A DAY AT THE IDP CAMP, AREA 1, ABUJA, NIGERIA 2018

A Day at the IDP Camp, Area 1, Abuja, Nigeria 2018

The trauma of terrorism and insurgency leaves deep scars, robbing survivors of homes, livelihoods, and security. In the FCT, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) face these harsh realities daily. Poverty, unemployment, floods, weak infrastructure, corruption, weapon proliferation, and religious tensions fuel these crises. Had governments addressed these issues effectively, IDP camps might not exist. The plight of orphaned children, left without care or education, risks their exploitation if support is not provided.

As part of NEOTERIC Group’s corporate social responsibility, we visited an IDP camp, delivering essential relief materials, including bags of rice, beans, millet, guinea corn, maize, salt, detergent, noodles, bathing soap, tomato paste, spaghetti, toothpaste, sanitary pads, yams, palm oil, and groundnut oil.

The camp director, filled with gratitude, said, “We deeply appreciate your generous donations and time spent with us. We hope other organizations will follow your example.” Directors Timothy Obisakin and Kalu Agbogo committed to adopting the camp, urging other companies across Nigeria to do the same. Mrs. Liyatu Yusuf, the camp’s women leader, added, “Be good, do good, and goodness will follow you.”
